This Is What Resurrection Looks Like
Three years ago Grace Church, Randolph hosted a pre-convention meeting. Just hours after everyone went home, the parish hall caught fire. Quick work by several fire companies saved the church but the parish hall was destroyed.
On Sunday October 16 the people of Grace Church, the Very Rev. Tom Broad, the rector of Grace Church, Bishop Franklin and people from around the Diocese gathered to dedicate the new parish hall.
The congregation gathered outside and sang the hymn “Tell Out My Soul” while they processed into the parish hall. Bishop Franklin preached on the theme of what resurrection looks like. The service ended with the singing of “All Are Welcome In This Place” followed by a reception in the new parish hall.
The Bishop pointed out that even during construction, Grace Church had a porta potty that ended up being used by the community as well.
Bishop Franklin said, “I know that the people of Grace Church will use this new place to truly make everyone welcome. They will continue their ministry to be a place where all the people of Randolph can come together, this is, indeed, what resurrection looks like.
