St. James’, Batavia Receives Stewardship Award

Last month the Landmark Society of Western New York presented St. James’, Batavia with their 2016 Stewardship Award for the restoration of the bell tower of the church.
The Society said that “… Your distinctive Gothic Revival building was constructed in 1908 and over the past several years has undergone a major restoration of the exterior cast stone, copper, stained glass, tower and quarried stone sections of the the building.  This $400,000 project included a grant from the Sacred sites Program as well as several innovative fundraising efforts.”
The congregation felt that a Stewardship award was appropriate, because they feel that they are being good stewards of the legacy left to them from prior generations.
Chip McGuire accepted the award on behalf of St. James’.
