Update from Our Little Roses

Lois Carter, of the Our Little Roses committee, provides the following update:

Our summer visit to Our Little Roses Home for Girls in Honduras was as always a fun filled time.  The girls, including new arrivals of four sisters, continue to thrive and are excited for the start of the new school year.

The third floor of the home is slowly taking shape. The apartment for the transition girls is expected to be completed by December, and the entire home has had a wonderful new colorful coat of paint.  Our group had a fun evening providing a “Hawaiian Nite” complete with new flip-flops, colorful leis for everyone, flower hair wreaths for the younger girls, and a Chinese Dinner which we provided and served.  A fun time was had by all.

The major fund raiser for the support of OLR is quickly approaching.  Our annual tea and basket auction will take place October 1st from 1 – 4 PM at the Diocesan Ministry Center.  Tickets remain at $25 and are available from your parish representative or by calling Merrie Hill at 836-3206 or Lois Carter at 751-6525.

Besides our delicious tea and wonderful basket auction, we will have a table of Honduran items, as well as crafts made by the girls at the home for your shopping pleasure.  You can start your holiday shopping early!  Also, Cheryl Chapman, the Executive Director of Our Little Roses Foreign Mission Society, the American branch of OLR will again be joining us for this event.  It is only through your generous donation that this ministry of the Diocese can continue to support these needy and abandoned girls, showing them not only the love of God, but your love and care for their future lives.

Plan now to be with us for this fun “party with a purpose” on October 1st.
