Parishes Unite to Assist Refugees

Approximately 30 youth and adult volunteers from St. Peter’s, Episcopal church in Eggertsville, and neighboring St. Benedict’s Roman Catholic church, collaborated on Saturday, June 11 to prepare a West Side apartment for a Somalian family’s arrival to the Buffalo area.

The outreach project, under the auspices of Journey’s End Refugee Services, has been in planning for several months, and comes in response to the joint letter penned by Bishops Franklin and Malone in December of 2014.

The two churches have also worked together on a Thanksgiving dinner for foreign ESL students that meet at St. Peter’s, and a shared evensong service for Christian Unity this past January.
